Experiments with Form (text/dance)

Led by Associate Artist Kate McDowell.

During this four-week training block, Kate will guide the group through movement research – an opportunity for the collective to test in practice an experimental idea.
Kate will work with a group of dancers/performers/writers to research her specific fascination with patterns and repetition. Using both potent and pedestrian lines of text and devised movement, the group will create evolving scores. The work will involve flocking, mocking, dancing and talking – taking moments and movements to emotional and physical extremes (big/small/duration).

Natural Mobility and Uses of Improvisation

Led by Associate Artist Jade Dewi Tyas Tunggal.

Over four weeks we will train in physical and conceptual practices that activate our relationships to body and earth. Our approach will excavate layers of connections with our bones, skin, breath and air. Each week will focus on exploring different uses of improvisation — as a source for original material, as a training in perception, to develop a piece and as a performance mode in itself.
