ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

‘Beyond Technique’ is a practical workshop designed to challenge and inspire participants to search for an authentic quality of movement derived from their lived experience. Ideally suited to a range of experience including emerging and professional artists of diverse cultural backgrounds and people with different physicality interested in inclusive creative process.

Suitable for people with some dance/movement experience interested in developing an awareness of improvisation techniques to inform the beginnings of creating new work.

ABOUT PHILIP CHANNELLS

Philip Channells is a regional artist living, working and playing on Bundjalung Country. He is the Creative Director of Dance Integrated Australia, one of three associate organisations supported by Ausdance NSW since 2015.  As an initiative of DIA, Philip currently leads a team of creatives for the MOVE IT Dance Fitness Fun workshop program. Through his work with emerging and established artists, Philip has been a key contributor to the advancement of diversity in dance and has mentored many successful disabled artists. He has worked widely internationally, across cultures, generations and arts genres including dance, theatre, performance, film, installation and exhibitions, artist residencies and dance in education.
