Dinner Party at the End of the World will be NORPA’s next major work — a new production created in our signature style, blending text, movement and bold staging.

Inspired by the 2022 floods and the lived experience of our region, the work maps both the immediate impact of disaster and the long road of recovery that follows. It draws on real stories of loss, resilience and extraordinary acts of care, exploring how community holds together when the unthinkable happens.

This is a slow-burn project by design. Across two research and development stages and an extended creative development, we’ve taken the time to listen, consult and learn from our community. As climate events become more frequent and more personal, we are asking: what does it mean to live through this? And how do we carry that experience forward?

The project brings together long-time collaborator Jo Turner, associate director and filmmaker Poppy Walker, acclaimed playwright Suzie Miller, and a dynamic ensemble of new and returning NORPA artists.

Epic, urgent and deeply human, Dinner Party at the End of the World is set to premiere in 2027 at The Joinery, marking a major new chapter for NORPA.
