A NORPA production

Prima Facie

Written by Suzie Miller
Directed by Heather Fairbairn

The world’s most talked about play, right on your doorstep

Suzie Miller’s Prima Facie has captivated audiences worldwide — from London’s West End to Broadway. Now, NORPA brings its original production of this landmark Australian play to six destinations in the Northern Rivers.

Matilda Ridgway (Belvoir’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time) takes on the powerhouse role of Tessa — an ambitious young lawyer at the top of her game. But when a shocking event throws her own life into crisis, she finds herself on the other side of the witness stand, forced to confront the entrenched power of the law. Once a champion of the system, she now faces its cracks and failures firsthand.

Directed by NORPA’s Artistic Associate Heather Fairbairn (Bell Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night), this is theatre at its most urgent and moving — a story that challenges, provokes, and resonates deeply with audiences around the world.

NORPA is proud to produce Prima Facie as the very first work in our annual Village Circuit season — sharing exceptional theatre with towns and communities across the Northern Rivers.

In February 2026, Prima Facie will play in Byron Bay, Murwillumbah, Tweed Heads, Kyogle, Grafton and Lismore.

NORPA’S VILLAGE CIRCUIT

The Village Circuit is NORPA’s new way of sharing theatre more widely — a summer tour that connects our towns and centres across the Northern Rivers through live performance. Each stop is part of a bigger story: a cultural trail that circles through our communities, year after year.

Every summer, NORPA will bring an exciting production to local venues, so you can enjoy a night of top-quality entertainment right in your backyard. Like the markets, the show, or the footy season, the Village Circuit is set to become a fixture of our shared calendar — something to look forward to with friends and family.
