Workshop: Physical Theatre, Comedy and Character with Jo Turner
A NORPA Fuel Workshop with Jo Turner
Unlock the power of physical storytelling .
Led by Jo Turner, who trained at the renowned Jacques Lecoq school, this dynamic hands-on workshop invites you to discover the joy, playfulness and expressive power of physical theatre. It’s ideal for anyone keen to work on non text-based exercises for developing character and scenes. Jo will guide you in a relaxed, supportive way, encouraging curiosity and play.
Working with Lecoq’s mimo-dynamic approach, you’ll explore the expressive qualities of the four classical elements, earth, water, air, and fire, to create compelling characters, develop authentic movement, and improvise original scenes.
Through playful physical exercises and guided improvisations, you’ll discover how each element generates distinct rhythms, energies, and emotional landscapes. Learn to transform the way you move, connect, and communicate on stage.
You’ll leave with practical techniques for enriching character work, expanding your physical vocabulary, and approaching theatre creation from the body outward.
Whether you’re seeking fresh inspiration, stronger physical presence, or a deeper understanding of devised theatre, this immersive workshop offers an engaging introduction to one of the world’s most influential approaches to actor training.
