Makers In Residence
NORPA’s Makers In Residence program supports artists to imagine, test and grow bold new work in conversation with our community and landscape.
At its heart, Makers In Residence is about exchange — between artists, audiences and the landscape. Artists are supported with the time, space and resources to push their practice forward within a collaborative and supportive environment. In turn, our community is invited to step inside the creative journey through workshops, open sharings and meaningful conversations with leading artists.
Through this program, NORPA continues to build lasting relationships with independent makers, spark new works for future seasons, and strengthen its role as a vibrant home for artistic development in regional Australia.

2026 Maker In Residence: Imogen Sage
Imogen Sage is an actor, theatre-maker and previous resident of the Northern Rivers. She trained at the Royal Central School of speech and Drama in London and has performed extensively in the UK and Australia with companies such as Kneehigh Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company and Bell Shakespeare, as well as in her own works Woyzeck + Marie and The Last Tentacle.
Imogen is our first Maker In Residence for 2026. In June she will spend two weeks developing a new one-woman theatre work that interweaves Irish mythology, investigations into gender-based violence and trauma, and the local family history story of Imogen’s Irish ancestral grandmother who disappeared in the Lismore area a century ago.
As part of her residency she is inviting local theatre makers to take part in two free workshops:
- Sat 27 Jun: Devising Theatre with Myth
- Sat 4 Jul: Acting and Theatre Making
NORPA’s Makers In Residence program is supported by The Ian Potter Foundation.
