A movement and cinematography workshop

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Join Colleen Coy in an introduction to Screendance, a hybrid art form combining movement and cinematography.  Participants will explore how improvisational movement can translate to crafting cinematography by practicing a series of movement exercises in the presence of a visual frame.  There will be no cameras or recording in this workshop.  Throughout the workshop, group members will shift between the roles of Dancer and Framer, playing with the unique somatic and perceptual opportunities these different perspectives create.  Compositional guidelines will be provided to shift the relationship with the frame, allowing for a multitude of choreographic and cinematic possibilities.
