Makers Hub – Program Overview

Fostering new ideas, creative collaborations and skill development
ABOUT MAKERS HUB
NORPA’s Makers Hub is a large, pop-up studio space at Lismore Showgrounds on beautiful Bundjalung Country. The Makers Hub will be a space that looks and feels like home, with lighting, a great floor, a breakout space, and the support of the NORPA team. It will be a space for artists to gather and connect.
Leading artists from around Australia will facilitate free workshops in dance, theatre making and physical theatre, both for professional and community level actors, dancers, theatre makers and movement artists.
The Makers Hub will be a space for research and creative development for new NORPA projects in collaboration with local and visiting artists, sowing the seeds of new performance work for future regional audiences and beyond. Collaboration is at the centre of NORPA’s work – it’s the way we make theatre.

WHY MAKERS HUB?
Homeless since the 2022 floods, NORPA will create a temporary creative space, the NORPA Makers Hub, from May – July this year at the Lismore Showgrounds. The company has had to shift focus from presenting work in an established venue to a more mobile model. The Makers Hub provides a fantastic opportunity for NORPA to rehearse and create work again, and for creative practitioners to engage with each other and the company.
